Southern Africa: Lesotho.

Species known from some adult ticks collected on the rodents Otomys spp. and Rattus namaquensis.

Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Species known from females collected on several birds, such as the trogons Pharomachrus mocinno and Trogon collaris and the blue-black grassquit Volatinia jacarina.

26. Ixodes berlesei Birula, 1895

Russia (Caucasus, Mountains of South Siberia, and Bering Island), Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Nepal.

Species found on birds nesting in rocks, including the falcons Falco rusticolus and Falco tinnunculus, the swift Apus pacificus, the thrush Myophonus caeruleus, redstarts, and others. Males have not been described.

Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru.

 Adults parasitize various carnivores, including raccoons, jaguar, and domestic dogs and cats. Ticks are also found on large ungulates, including livestock, and attached to humans. Immature ticks were found on carnivores and opossums.

28. Ixodes brewsterae Keirans, Clifford and Walker, 1982

Liberia, Uganda, Zaire, and Congo.

One male and six females were collected on the mongooses Atilax paludinosus and Herpestes ichneumon, and one female was collected on a domestic cat.

29. Ixodes browningi Arthur, 1956

Zaire and Uganda.

Adult ticks mainly parasitize the squirrels Funisciurus anerythrus, Heliosciurus rufobrachium, and Aethosciurus ruwenzorii, but they were found on rats and mice as well. Immature ticks have not been described.

Ethiopia.

Species was described from single female collected on the hyrax Heterohyrax brucei.

31. Ixodes brunneus Koch, 1844

 USA (eastern states to the west as far as Wisconsin, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas, but also in Oregon and California) and Venezuela (?), They are also reported to be present in Ukraine (Crimea).

Specific parasite of birds, mainly Passeriformes. All stages have been described. In Panama it was found on the tinamou.

32. Ixodes calcarhebes Arthur and Zulu, 1980

Zambia (exact locality of collection is unknown).

Species described from a single female collected on the rat Praomys natalensis.

33. Ixodes caledonicus Nuttall, 1910

Europe: Great Britain (Scotland, England, Shetlands, and Hebrides), Ireland, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, former Yugoslavia, Poland, and Ukraine (Crimea); Russia: Caucasus and Primorsky Kray; Asia: Azerbaijan, Kirghizia, and Tajikistan; Africa: Morocco.

All stages are found on birds nesting in rocks, such as swifts, pigeons, ravens, crows, peregrine falcons, and others.

34. Ixodes capromydis Cerny, 1966

Cuba (Pinos Island).

Specific parasite of the Cuban hutia Capromys pilorides. All stages are described.

Republic of South Africa (Cape Province).

Species described from six females collected on the hare Lepus saxatilis.

36. Ixodes cavipalpus Nuttall and Warburton, 1908

Cameroon, Zaire, Sudan (southern), Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Angola, and the Republic of South Africa (Transvaal).

Adult ticks mainly parasitize Artiodactyla ungulates, both wild and domestic. These ticks are rarely found on carnivores, monkeys, or hares. Larvae have been reared in the laboratory. Nymphs have not been described.

37. Ixodes ceylonensis Kohls, 1950

India (Karnataka) and Sri Lanka.

Females were found on rats, wild cats, a mongoose, and a monkey. Immature ticks parasitize rodents and insectivores. A high intensity of infestation is reported for the shrew Suncus murinus.

38. Ixodes chilensis Kohls, 1957

Chile.

This species was described from a single female. Host is unknown.

39. Ixodes colasbelcouri Arthur, 1957

Madagascar.

Adult ticks were collected on the rodents Rattus rattus, Brachyuromys betsileonensis, and Nesomys rufus, and one female and two larvae were found on the tenrecs Tenrec ecaudatus and Nesogale talazaci as well.
